Let’s face it mobile devices are everywhere and can store a wealth of valuable and relevant information. Mobile devices are not only cellphones but iPads and tablets and even GPS/navigational units are mobile devices, as well.
Mobile device forensics is the process of preserving and retrieving the information stored on a mobile device in a matter which allows the information to be admissible in court. In a mobile device forensic investigation, the data is preserved by imaging the device using special software and tools. Depending on the cell phone model, where and when the data was stored on the cell phone, it is possible to fully retrieve or recover the data, even if the data has been deleted.
